Guys, lately, I’ve been really stressed. I want things to go one way and they go another way. I want more money, and I push it away. I want new circumstances, and I push them away. I’m stressed and I want things to go my way. And it bothers me and I worry and I wake up feeling annoyed. So I talk to my wife about this. We talked and talked and talked and tried to figure out, what should we do? Should we keep talking about this situation? Keep drawing attention to it so we make it worse? What can you do when you’ve buried yourself so deep in a situation that you can’t seem to find a way out of it? It’s stressful and annoying and you just wish you could run away from it!

Well, we have found the answer, which may come as no surprise to you. That answer is Silent Counting!

Lighten up! It’s not serious. It’s just for fun. Your mind makes everything so serious but it’s really not! Your life really isn’t that bad! My life really isn’t that bad! We just get caught up focusing on these things that we blow up with our minds and make them bigger and bigger and bigger until they overwhelm us and make us cry and feel like we’re trapped! And that’s the core of the issue. I’ve been feeling trapped and maybe you have too.

Breathe out and know the solution’s right in front of you

If you feel trapped, and it’s beginning to manifest in your external circumstances—you feel trapped by people, you feel trapped by places, you feel trapped by relationships, you feel trapped by financial circumstances—if you feel trapped, it’s only because your mind is tricking you into thinking you’re trapped. There is a way out. There is freedom. The freedom is really easy—you just count silently in your head. The reason why this works is because the counting frees you from the trap of your mind.

Breathe out and know that you can release yourself from this trap, right here, right now, with a little silent counting.

When you count silently in your head, you give yourself distance from your thoughts. Only your thoughts can make you feel bad, so when you count silently in your head from 0 to 100 over and over or backwards from 100 to 0, when you do this, when you count, you create distance from your thoughts and those feelings of being trapped start to fall away. When you count silently in your head, you place your attention on your inner self, your inner world, your inner source, your connection to source. When you count silently in your head, you are allowing yourself to be your reason for feeling good. You’re keeping your mind and your thoughts off of this world. When you think about this world and all that’s wrong with it, you make it worse. You draw attention to it. You blow it up. You expand it because what you resist persists and what you focus on expands. You gotta just get away from those thoughts. You gotta give yourself some distance from those thoughts that are creating this trap.

Breathe in and know you can escape from the trap today!
Breathe out and feel so excited because you’re escaping from the trap today!

All it takes is some distance from your thoughts so you can wake up in the present moment and see life already is the way you want it to be.

So let’s practice together. We’ll practice getting ourselves out of these traps. With silent counting, it gives your mind distance. It gives yourself—who you really are—distance from your thoughts. When you have that distance, you remember who you really are and you remember life already is the way you want it to be. You’re already safe and everything’s already perfect and in its place and everything’s fun and there’s nothing to worry about. All this can be yours with a little silent counting!

Together we will be free from this trap! Here’s how I count:

This is what I promise to you I will be doing in my head today instead of thinking those thoughts about being trapped. And within myself, I will create the freedom that I desire in my external world.
