    Church?

  • jessica mullen

we watch a lot of jerry & esther hicks videos while we cook & eat. we liken it to attending church, because it is always uplifting & helps us keep a good positive attitude. essentially, the law of attraction & positive thinking has become our religion.

On Sunday I will be attending church, the first time in almost 8 months. We have been invited by the parents of one of my daughters schoolmates to attend http://www.thevineyardchurch.co.uk. I’m quite looking forward to it. They’ve even invited us to Sunday lunch afterwards. Quite like the thought of having a meal that I have not had to prepare myself.

It felt good to be back in that environment again. I’m looking forward to returning next Sunday. It seemed that I knew none of the songs and I did not follow all of what the lady said in her talk. (They post a podcast of the talk so hope to listen again when it’s uploaded). We were seated on the balcony which was handy as my son kept running about. I took a picture which I have posted to botevyle.posterous.com. As you will see it’s not a tradition building, it’s a converted warehouse in the middle of an industrial park. Many were away due to school holidays. Our friends said it would normally be heaving with people at other times.

Also it was good to share a meal with our new friends. Like your own family they have four children – 3 girls & 1 boy so there were 10 around the table. They had a mishap with the chicken they had cooked the previous evening so decided to serve ham and pasta plus a few other bits instead. Afterwards as the kids played we had a wonderful chat about some of our past life experiences. It’s quite sobering to hear of other peoples lives and some of the trauma and upheaval they have gone through. Makes you grateful for what you have and what so far you have been spared.
Provided we have not scared them off, I’m hoping that we can spend some more time with them in the future. They reminded me of the family that featured in the film Parenthood. They have their issues but then don’t we all.

sounds like a delightful experience david. Parenthood always made me feel so awkward as a child because of all the sexual innuendos. i was so puritanical.
